Monolouge-Mermaid
I stood at the end of my small boat, looking over the sea. I saw that my boat was nearing a small cluster of rocks, no longer than five feet wide, but still dangerous if I ran into it. I started to turn the boat away until I saw a woman on one of the rocks. I moved closer and noticed that it was a mermaid. She was combing her hair with a pearl comb. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, with long blonde hair running down her back. Her tail was light blue, the color of the sea and had two lacy fins at it's end. It shined in the light as she sat there, looking me over. Neither of us said anything or moved, except for the mermaid's arms, combing her hair. Suddenly, she started to sing. Her voice was smooth and her song had no words, just notes, up and down the scale, making all my thoughts stop. All I could think, feel and hear was was the song. I started climbing down off the boat. I splashed into the water and swam over to the rock the mermaid was on. She stared at me and set down her comb. She held her hand out in my direction. I set mine on top of hers. Her song then stopped and she held onto my hand tightly. Before I knew what was happening, she was pulling me underwater. Her grip was strong and she didn't let go. All I could do was hope she would let go of me. My eyes stung from the salt water as I tried to free myself from her grip, but I found that I couldn't. And thats when she broke my heart. The mermaid stopped looking so beautiful. In fact, she looked frightening. Her long hair was now wild, her eyes narrowed into slits as she swam downward, and her long tail was now beating the water with much strength and force. My lungs were on fire. I knew I couldn't survive much longer. I tried to struggle, to get away while I could. I'm a strong man, I should be able to get away from a little mermaid! A few seconds later, I blacked out. Still, the mermaid didn't stop swimming. On and on she went, into the depths of the sea until she was no more than a silver speck, surrounded by blue.
